Signing in to SaysHere

You sign in with a code we email you, or with your Google or GitHub account; one account can have all three.

  3. Add or remove a way
  4. Sign out

Sign in with a code

Type your email address on the sign-in page and press Continue. We email a six-digit code and a link; type the code into the boxes, or press the link in the same browser. A code works for ten minutes and once. Five wrong tries lock that code; ask for a new one. The browser you sign in with is remembered for thirty days, so if someone asks for codes to your address from elsewhere, yours still arrive.

Sign in with Google or GitHub

Press Continue with Google or Continue with GitHub. The first time, Google or GitHub asks you to allow SaysHere to read your account's address; after that, one press signs you in. If the address already has a SaysHere account that signs in with a code, you confirm it is yours once, with a code or another linked account, and the two ways are joined.

Add or remove a way

On a public page, open Account, the round key with your initials or a person icon, and choose Account settings. If the header shows Menu instead, open it and choose Account settings. In the app, open Account, the round key with your initials at the right end of the header, and choose Account settings.

On your account page, under Ways to sign in, each way has its row: Email code is always on; Google and GitHub show Add or Remove. Adding or removing needs a recent sign-in with a code or a linked account. If you signed in more than ten minutes ago, or by the link in the email, the page asks you to confirm it is you first, and then carries on.

Sign out

On a public page, open Account or, when shown, Menu, then press Sign out. The page stays open and shows the signed-out controls. In the app, open Account and press Sign out; while a session runs, or a transcript is not saved, the Listen page asks first: Stay keeps the session and the sign-in, and End and leave, or Leave, ends the session and then signs you out.

Sign out ends this browser's session. Sign out everywhere, on your account page's Profile tab, ends every session on every device, this one included.

SaysHere sets one cookie to keep you signed in and, once you've signed in here with a code, one that remembers this browser for thirty days, so that someone else asking for codes to your address can't lock you out. Cookies and tracking
